Couple Arrested After Child Found Alone On Railroad Tracks

Police arrested a woman and her boyfriend after neighbors found a 3-year-old playing alone on railroad tracks in Louisville Sunday morning.

Police say the girl's mother, Victoria Carroll, 26, left the toddler with her boyfriend while she went to a methadone clinic. Josh Tate, 24, told police he was asleep and didn't realize the child was gone. Officers say they found the door wide open when they arrived.

Police say both Tate and Carroll face charges. Child Protective Services previously told her not to leave the child under Tate's supervision.

Neighbors say they often see the little girl wandering around unsupervised.

"It's very scary. That's why we try to keep our eye's out for her," Kathy Kerr said. "Something had to happen for this to be put to a stop."

Police say Tate came unglued when officers arrested him.

"He started banging his head on the safety glass which is between the front seat of the police cruiser and the back seat. Police got that individual out at which point he started hitting his head on the asphalt," LMPD Spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said.
