Yes indeed, a combination of flying skills, nerves of steel, insight, and a good dose of luck aswell.
So many things could have gone wrong, like f.ex. boats in the water, losing altitude too early, etc.
The flight crew certainly did a commendable job!!

No they didn't mean Microsoft flight simulator.
They used Just Flight as you can see in the beginning of the clip.

To bad there isn't actual footage of the plane going down in the river. Would've been pretty cool to see.

you would figure with all the camera angles from people who just so happened to have a camera on 911, that videos of this flight would posted everywhere.

Not very clear, but you see the plane going down.

Interview with a Safety pilot a number of years ago;
"If I were to ditch, I would want to do it on a river in a large city with rescue services close at hand."
Prophetic! With a large dose of luck. Happy landing!

It blew me away when I seen that on the news. There isn't much to an aircraft....little stonger than a travel trailer with wings and it stayed together....I wonder if the engines were ripped offon impact....kudos to the pilots and Air Bus

At his altitude and airspeed he had about 15 seconds or less to make his decision. Had he waited another 10 seconds he would have hit the bridge.
