Truck goes up in flames after hitting gas line(aerial view)

(10/10/07 -- CARY, N.C.) - A major intersection in Cary was shutdown and several businesses evacuated after a contractor it a natural gas line. A truck went up in a ball of flames at Kildaire Farm Road and Tyron Road.

The major intersection is closed. Chopper 11 video shows flames shooting several feet into the area affecting telephone poles and power lines in the area.
No injuries have been reported, but evacuations in the immediate area have been ordered. The Waverly Place Shopping Center, Crescent Commons Shopping Center and several medical offices on Asheville Avenue have been evacuated according to Cary spokesperson Susan Moran.

It started around 11 a.m. when a contractor working on a signal light in the area hit a natural gas line. Utility officials tell Eyewitness News the 8-inch line was hit and work crews could not move the truck in time before it caught fire.

Crews with PSNC are working to shut off the gas line to the intersection.This video is taken from live feed aerial coverage.
