@player1up The problem with the death penalty is it doesn't reduce crime, it's more expensive than someone serving a life sentence (unless you want to reduce the court system to a state where innocent people get put to death more often). Despite all that, innocent people still get executed.
Civilized countries don't give states the right to kill people.

I remember when watching the trial live, the security guard manning the video surveillance equipment mentioned the van exploded right as he was trying to get a fix on the licence plate. In other words, he didn't have much time to do anything.
