A group of Wisconsin high school students escaped serious injury on Wednesday afternoon when their bus slammed into a car and pinned it to a tree. The accident happened in Kenosha after classes ended for the day at Bradford High School. Witnesses say a car driven by a 17 year-old student swerved in front of a city bus carrying 45 students. The collision flipped the car on its side and slammed it into a tree. Police say the roots of the tree kept the bus from causing even more damage to the car. It took a fire and rescue crew about an hour to get the driver out of the car. He is reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital. A student passenger in the car was taken out more easily and is reported to have non-life-threatening injuries. Some of the students on the bus were also taken to nearby hospitals but police said none had injuries that would be considered serious.
