An explosion occurred in the middle of the Christmas rush at 16:50 on Saturday at one of the busiest crossing points in Stockholm. The car that exploded is said to have had propane tanks in the cargo.

The next blast occurred 300 meters away in what appears to be Sweden's first suicide bomb attack. Alot of nails were find throughout. The dead man was wearing a Palestinian scarf and his body is said to be so badly damaged that it was split in two.

The News Agency (TT) received a threat mail ten minutes before the explosions with a video attached that is addressed to the Swedish people. In the video, a muslim man talks about the supposed "Swedish silence" on Lars Vilks drawings, the Swedish soldiers in Afghanistan, and says that "now your children, daughters and sisters must die like our brothers, sisters and children are dying."

- "Our actions will speak for themselves. As long as you do not stop your war against Islam, your degrading of the Prophet, and your stupid support for the pig Vilks".

Then the man calls all Muslims in Sweden to "stop sucking up and humiliating themselves". And ends the message with yet another call for "all the mujahideen in Europe and Sweden":

- It's time to hit, wait no longer. Take whatever you have, even if its a knife, and I know you have more than just a knife. Fear no one, fear not prison, do not fear death.
