Car thief pulled from fiery crash ,after police chase,before car catches fire

An alleged car thief led police on an hourlong high-speed chase that began in Brentwood and ended in the Pasadena area, where he barreled into another vehicle in a fiery crash that left him and a motorist injured.

The chase began at 11:18 p.m. Monday near San Vicente Boulevard and Gorham Avenue in Brentwood when officers attempted to stop a car with Nevada license plates that had been reported stolen.
The Ford Taurus the suspect was driving took off westbound on Sunset Boulevard, went southbound on Pacific Coast Highway and entered the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in Santa Monica, reaching speeds of 105 mph before transitioning to the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway.

The suspect then exited at Orange Grove Boulevard.
He then led officers through Pasadena, where a PIT maneuver was unsuccessfully attempted.

Around 12:20 a.m.,the driver crashed into a vehicle at the intersection of Colorado and Rosemead boulevards in an unincorporated area bordering Pasadena.
The vehicle caught fire soon after the suspect was dragged from the car.

The man who was in the car that was hit had glass embedded in his skin and was taken to a hospital with a concussion.

The suspect, who suffered broken ribs, bruising from his seat belt, and facial cuts, also was hospitalized overnight.

The suspect, who is named in several outstanding misdemeanor and felony arrest warrants, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading.
