Pheasant Hunters Save Deer Locked At Antlers

Hunters discovered 2 deers with antlers locked together. One deer had already died and the eagles were feeding on it as the other one struggled to get free. Hunters estimate that these deer had been there for at least a couple of days. Tumbleweed Lodge in Harrold, South Dakota (JIMMY DARR)

  • I've said it once, I'll say it again: It's random acts of compassion towards those less fortunate than us, regardless of species, that defines us as Human. Well done lads!

    • @idahoguy4life umm, i spend 50 to 100 nights a year sleeping in the wilderness and hundreds of hours picking up trash and debris from the wilderness and i can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that hunters and anglers are some of the worst polluters and destroyers of nature there are.

You are fu@king clueless and a simple search would show you what group has hands down done the most to preserve and conserve our nations wildlife. Hint it is not the department of fish and game or the National forestry dept.... They simply destroy it without accountability.......

the vast majority of trash and destruction i find are coutesy of hunters and anglers.

    • @aureliusva Firstly, cleaning other's mess is a great thing you do and i congratulate you.
Now, about the love and respect for nature from hunters, i have a different experience than you (that does not mean i don't believe you, but that you are unlucky with the "human quality" of your local hunters) - i am not a hunter or fisherman myself, but the few i know are mostly there for the nature experience and not the "kill".
By the way, i really miss camping nowdays - i never di More..

I am not a teacher...use google and the like if you care to learn about the how hunters and their dues preserve wildlife. If you have a specific point then make it and if I can find time between murdering bambi and all the other tasty animals then I will provide a rebuttal

    • @Whatitis first, you can't make a claim and not back it up.

second, i would respectfully disagree. i hunt and fish and buy licenses every year even though i don't hunt every year. i also volunteer in state and national forests and i think volunteers in natural areas do more to help wildlife and those natural areas than we realize. cheers.

    • @aureliusva no argument here...one important part that rings true to my statement...you (an occasional hunter) know the importance of real wild life preservation and donate your time to help out...how many other hunters/fisherman donate their time? Not to say that non-hunter/fisherman don't but I would like to see the statistics.

  • feel bad for both deers, even for the one that survived because the female deer that they fought over must of been fucked already by some old an fat deer.

  • Probably broke the other deer's neck during a fight, but got locked up. Glad they found him, and kept him from starving to death or getting eaten alive by predators.

    • @Elk Snot so what about the predators? are they any less deserving of life than this deer? where do the "hunters" get off thinking they know how to balance nature?

      Posted Nov-11-2012 By

      (-5) | Report

    • @aureliusva Because leaving an animal to suffer with no way of defending itself is irresponsible, which 99.9% of hunters are not. For all we know, the predators in the area might be a major problem.

    • @Elk Snot animals suffer and die everyday in nature and it is not man's place to decide who lives and who dies. do you know more than billions of years of evolution? what animals do we help and what animals do we not help?

    • @aureliusva Really?? And are we not "part of nature ourselves??" Why do people seem to think that we are not part of nature?? A little high on yourself eh? We are no different than anything else in nature..

      Posted Nov-11-2012 By

      (1) | Report

    • @aureliusva We're at the top of the food chain, so yes, it's very much our place to decide who lives and who dies. Especially for humans who actively manage the land they live on. It can be devastating for small herds of deer to lose two potential alpha males at the same time. It can affect the whole pack for generations.
