USA - Country With Most Amount of Rape Cases

http://www.globalpost.com/dispatches/globalpost-blogs/quick-click/which-country-has-the-highest-reported-incidents-rape-data

The Steubenville, Ohio, rape trial involving high school football players Trent Mays and Ma'lik Richmond was one of the headline-grabbing case to bring sexual assault back into public discussion.

Several other brutal sex crimes in recent months have continued to garner global attention. They include the India gang rape in December, the alleged rape of a 9-year-old Pakistani girlshortly after, and another case in India, over the weekend, involving a Swiss tourist.

So what do rape incidents look like globally? We've produced one partial answer via charts using the latest international data available on reported rapes by the United Nations.

These numbers should be taken with a grain of salt, however. Statistics on the subject vary widely. The United States had more than 80,000 cases of rape reported to the police from 2004 to 2010, according to UN data. But the US Justice Department estimates 300,000American women are raped every year, and the Centers for Disease Control puts the number much higher at 1.3 million.

When looking at reported rape cases per capita, Australia, Botswana and Lesotho rank highest. But tallying sheer totals, Europe and the Americas consistently top the charts.

It's difficult to pinpoint the "why" behind these numbers. Australia may have the highest average per capita, but that doesn't mean it actually experiences higher rates than other countries that bottom out on this list, like Egypt, where sexual assault has marred the country's once idealistic revolution.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Country_most_amount_of_rape_cases

The United States Of America (USA) has reported the highest number of rape cases. An FBI statistics tells us that in the year 2005 alone around 93,934 cases of rape has taken place. This figure gives us only the amount of reported cases , not the actual number of cases. The actual number of rape cases may be much more higher than the reported cases.
That means on an average 257 women are raped in the United States of America on a daily basis.

  • The problem with this is we don't have a national religion that condones it.  In certain countries it's totally legal to rape a child as long as you marry her (and provide a substantial "gift").  Also, from what I understand in some countries 4 people might even be necessary to witness something for a rape for it to be called such.... The cultural aspects of rape are a huge impact upon a country.  Is there a problem in the US?  Absolutely.  Will it get better due to acknowlegement More..

  • title corrections: USA - Country With Most Reported Amount of Rape Cases

Mexicans dont report rapes in Mexico in fear of the police raping them too.

We all know that the women in the Middle East dont report a rape unless it is on video. other wise, to report a rape, 4 men must witness the rape or the woman goes to jail.

Africa, their is no one to report a rape to.

  • Lets clarify just a bit.

The highest REPORTED cases. Women in the US won't put up with the bullshit. You can damn well bet its higher in a lot of other countries but because of social stigma, culture, religion or a host of a thousand other things it goes unreported.
