  • Now that was funny! I think your wife will be getting you one too! You're a good pet owner to try it yourself first to see how painful it really is. My respect to you sir!!

  • I have that collar for my pitbull, I've been too much of a pussy to try that, almost did when I was really drunk one night but I thought it might not be the best idea... I might give it a shot now.

  • Alright, I laughed pretty hard.

Back in the 90's I bought the collar for the invisible fence and accidentally walked over the the line with it in my hand. Shocked the fuck out of me. Knowing what it felt like, I never put the piece of shit on my dog again.

  • Ever think that your dog is just bored? Horrible to shock your dog for being a dog.

Maybe try more exercise or mentally stimulating toys.

You know why you're getting shocked. The dog won't. Plenty of dogs associate the shock with the area they're in, not the noise they are making. So they just run from the area they barked in rather than learn not to bark. And many become collar savvy...that means without doing anything (training/more exercise) you'll have to use the collar ALL the time becaus More..

    • @Cheesay
Except for the "last resort" thing, this makes sense. There's no place for anti-bark collars, ever. Sometimes there's good reasons for dogs to bark (burglars, snakes, politicians). You don't want them losing that.

It sounds counter-productive but the best way to fix a dog with a barking problem is teach it to bark on command. Then you can teach it to stop barking. But the point is training is enjoyable and both the dog and owner benefit. Taking shortcuts with these contrapti More..

    • @Teslagraaf My last resort comment is referring to situations like apartment living where the dog barks while the owner is away or at work and no other accommodations can be made. The result of the barking could lead to eviction or the dog having to be given up. If it comes to the extreme end of things, I would have no problem with the bark collar potentially saving the dog from ending up in a much worse situation.

  • Yeah, I wouldn't use it for my own dogs. If my dogs bark constantly, I bring them inside. Simple as that.
