Regional Leader “Islam Democrats” Unmasked

More and more, bloggers everywhere are asking the questions the mainstream media do not dare, or do not want to ask. At Dutch conservative blog Dagelijkse Standaard, for instance, we wondered whether the leader of the newly founded Islam Democrats party in The Hague, Dilaver Delikaya, is as enlightened, westernized, modern and peaceful as he and the mainstream media want us to believe. His party will participate in the municipal elections in The Hague (and in the cities of Rotterdam and Utrecht) later this year.

Looking around on his Hyves-page (Hyves is a social networking website similar to FaceBook) we found the following lovely photos in the “family album”:



As you can see, there’s a picture of the Kaaba – the cube-shaped building in Mecca, Saudi Arabia towards Muslims pray when performing the traditional prayer – behind a boy who is pointing two guns at his own head. That’s bad, but what makes this even worse, assuming that the guns Muhamed holds in his hands are real, is that it’s illegal to bear arms in the Netherlands.
OK, we thought when we saw this first photo, “that’s troubling. But it’s just one photo.” Well, not entirely. Here are two more photos of Delikaya’s lovely, peaceful family:


Three shots of Delikaya’s young relatives (we know he has one son but we’re not sure whether his son can be seen on any of these three photos) pretending to shoot at either themselves or someone else; that sounds like a pattern to me.

Looking at these photos, you’d almost think that the Islam Democrats of Delikaya resemble the Muslim Brotherhood more closely than Democrats of any kind.

These pictures could be found on Delikaya’s personal page on Hyves. They were not difficult to find. Yet, it wasn’t the Dutch mainstream media, who have many millions available for research, but a (relatively poorly funded) blog that did the research necessary to show this man’s real face to the world: typical for the state of the media both in the United States and in Europe.

UPDATE

Delikaya’s party says that the boys on the photos are, indeed, his relatives, but that the guns the boy point at himself are fake. They also say that they’re very unhappy with our report and that they condemn violence of any kind, including “rhetorical violence.”

Although they may be unhappy, the point still stands: why does a leader of the Islam Democrats publish photos on his Hyves account of his young relatives posing as gangsters or worse? Additionally, there’s no such thing as “rhetorical violence”: it’s a contradiction in terms. You can’t help but wonder whether this is meant as yet another attempt to limit the freedom of speech by those who can’t deal with it.

Report: Attempted Terrorist Attack in The Netherlands, Bomb Found in Train – Police Say Prank

UPDATE (6:00 AM ET)
Dutch Omroep Brabant now reports that police say no bomb has been found. A man was arrested, but he it’s likely he’s an insane loser with too much time on his hands and not a terrorist. Good news, if true of course.

Having said that, I do hope that this man will suffer the consequences of pulling such a “prank.” The entire train station was evacuated, people couldn’t get to their work, all because of one attention craving idiot. End Update

National newspapers and news channels report today that a bomb was found in a train at the train station of the city of Den Bosch, in the South of the Netherlands. Experts are supposedly trying to dismantle the explosive device at this moment.

Dutch news channel the NOS says that the bomb was found after passengers alerted railroad personnel that a suspicious man was moving in and around the train. When personnel tried to talk to the men he said he had planted a bomb in the train.
One witness said: “First, he suddenly asked for a cigarette. ‘Excuse me,’ he said, ‘I’d like to have a cigarette.’ After that he disappeared for a short while, but returned within a matter of minutes. He shouted ‘God is great’ [not sure whether he shouted God is great in Dutch or in Arabic - Allahu Akbar - and Dutch media simply translated it into Dutch themselves] and ‘I have a bomb!’”

A bomb squad moved in and found the explosives, the national railroad company (NS) says. Police haven’t confirmed the report yet.

If the report is accurate, it seems pretty safe to conclude that the would-be bomber is yet another extremist trying to murder innocent people – men, women and children – in the name of Islam. Let it serve as a reminder that the enemy is living among us and that we underestimate his ruthlessness and barbarism at our own peril.

Post updated to reflect the fact that while the NS says the bomb has been found, police haven’t confirmed it yet. There is some uncertainty about the question of whether the explosives were found or not. Reports coming from the Netherlands are a bit chaotic, at the moment.
