A sixth person has died in Sydney after a horror boat crash in the city's famous harbour.
Police are investigating tragedyDoctors said the man died from severe head injuries he had suffered in the collision between a small cruiser and fishing trawler.
Five others, aged between 18 and 31, were killed in the accident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning. Eight more people were injured.
The US consulate said one of the victims was an American. Local media reported that she was from Texas and was in the country as a youth worker.
All the other victims were Australian.
Police said all the dead and injured were travelling in the 23ft half-cabin cruiser.
It was hit by a 41ft trawler that was heading out to sea.
All victims but one were Aussie,Investigators were looking at why the boat, which was licensed to carry eight people, had 14 people on board when the crash occurred.
They were also probing reports that the boat may have been stolen.
A boat repair company said in a statement that a former contractor was among the injured, and may have taken the boat for a joyride.
Witnesses and police indicated the group took the cruiser out for a late-night tour of the harbour after drinking at a hotel in the nearby suburb of Balmain.
