Volcano evacuees demand 'chamber of love'

Some of the 300,000 evacuees from the volcanic eruption in Central Java sheltering in football stadiums and public halls have made an unusual request.
The evacuees say they have food and clothing but are prepared to queue up to fulfil an equally basic need, according to reports in Indonesian newspapers.
The evacuees were ordered to leave a 20-kilometre danger zone around Mount Merapi, which has been spewing ash and heat clouds since late last month.
Their demand is for what is being called a "chamber of love".
The Republika newspaper quotes a newly-wed 18-year-old, Ari Margareta, as saying her biological needs are not being fulfilled.
The Okezone website quotes other evacuees who have asked authorities to set aside a private area on the fourth floor of the giant stadium where they have been sheltering for two weeks because many people were risking their lives to return home for some conjugal privacy.
The newspapers say there is a precedent. A chamber of love was provided for those fleeing the Bantul earthquake in 2006.
A total of 151 people have died since Mount Merapi began erupting again on October 26.
