Sen. Mitch McConnell (R, Ky.) speaks at the American Enterprise Institute about Resident Obama and free speech.
I'm asking all patriotic Americans to get personally involved, not just by voting but go the extra yard and send E-mails, Faxes and phone calls to your state Senators...they work for you. let them know you are paying attention and watching them.
I received a letter from Sen. Mitch McConnell (R, Ky.) United States Senate yesterday.
Dear Mr. ----
Thank you for contacting me with your concerns. Hearing from you helps me represent Kentucky in the United States Senate. I apologize for the time it took to respond to your correspondence; many Kentuckians share their concerns with me, and I want to be sure that I give each correspondence the attention it deserves.
I certainly appreciate your eloquence in expressing your views on our Constitution. As a United States Senator, I took an oath to uphold the Constitution as I carry out my duties on behalf of the public. I take this responsibility very seriously. The United States Constitution is the oldest foundational document of it's kind in existence today and for over 200 years it has served as the bedrock of this great democracy. I am gravely concerned about any legislation that might water down or compromise the integrity of this time-honored document and the liberties enshrined therein.
A disturbing example, the Obama Administration recently announced a decision to force faith - based organizations to comply with a health insurance mandate that violates their sacred beliefs. You do not have to belong to any particular to see that if government can violate the religious rights of one group, then surely it can violate those of others. The Obama administration has crossed a dangerous line.
I will work to lead members of the United States Senate who recognize the fundamental importance of our Constitution to ensure that our rights as Americans are respected by this government and protected in full.
Thank you again for contacting me about this important and fundamental matter.
Mitch McConnell United States Senator.
