ARM has uncovered that illegal
horse slaughter is not only taking place in international slaughter
plants, but is also an issue in Miami, Florida and spreading to
different areas of the United States. Even more disturbing is that not
only are Miami’s well organized illegal farms slaughtering these horses
for meat for human consumption, but also private lawless butchers. These
butchers are breaking into barns to steal privately owned horses to
butcher on site leaving the carcasses for the owners to discover the
next morning! They are then selling the horse meat on the black market
for $7-$40 a pound due to high demand. Do to ARM exposing this issue 11
men have been arrested for the crimes, 2 of them serving a total of 9
years in prison.
To some, horse meat is considered a luxury
item. Many people in Miami are eating horse meat thinking it has healing
powers for health issues. In fact, horse meat is known to cause cancer
and birth defects due to the drugs that are given to American horses.
Miami is the only area in the United States that a dead horse is much
more valuable than a live horse!.
