How about a goverment that lets you, the people, vote on what you want?

Just a quick one to see what peoples thoughts are on this.

Pretty much a UK only thing unless you think it would work in your country, in which case what do you think?

A recent problem in the uk is that they have decided, against the wishes of the general public, to lower rural national speed limits to 50. Surely the goverment would have been better off getting some sort of voting system going for the general public to decide on it.

Just a case of if you want the speed limit raised or not, vote on it.

If that happened and the population voted to lower it, then i would be happy as i would be the minority and the majority want the speed lower or vice a versa.

Obviously we cant vote on taxes and so on, but for piddly little things that affect the daily working persons life, we should be able to decide as a country if we need it.

At the moment, its decided by politians that dont actually get envolved in the hassles that we put up with everyday.

There is a three lane bit of the motorway in wales that is perminatly 50mph for no apparant reason, and then we have a single track rural road that is 60mph. it does not make sense and surely im not alone thinking like this.

obviously, id like all the saftey info before i vote.

Im only asking if you think it would be a good idea for the general public to vote on these things and not some yuppie that it does not affect.

I fully support our goverment either way, i just thought this might make em look a bit better.

Cheers for your thoughts

Rob
