Holder Wants More Marijuana Possession Arrests

More..r Ronal Reagan imitation, Holder vowed a more militaristic pledge of 100 more ATF agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives, to be placed along the border to help stem the two-way flow of drugs into the United States and guns and money back into Mexico.
And then he went on to say that he was exploring ways to lower the minimum amount required for the federal prosecution of marijuana possession cases. Huh?
Riding a wave of recent calls for legalization or at least decriminalization of marijuana which many Americans view as the quickest and most cost-effective way to weaken the drug cartels, Eric Holder has thrown off his life-vest and is swimming upstream against the wave. After 70 years of marijuana prohibition that have not only been ineffective in curbing America’s appetite for the drug, but have also made the drug cartels richer than the 3rd world governments which are trying to stop or contain them, Eric Holder wants to make the laws tougher still and incarcerate more non-violent, otherwise law-abiding citizens.
If Holder and the Obama Administration succeed in lowering the minimum amount to step up the number of prosecutions of marijuana possession cases, not only will the drug cartels be made even stronger and richer than they are now, millions more American lives will be ruined by their own thoughtless government’s actions, and the violence that is tearing at Mexico will spill into the already violence plagued streets of our nation, far north of American-Mexican border.
Many in the media have recently said and written that we are closer to taking a sensible stance on marijuana, turning the page on the failed drug war, yet recent signals from the Obama Administration indicate that nothing could be farther from the truth. With a recent Time Magazinepoll showing that more than 70% of Americans want marijuana decriminalized, it seems as though Washington is very disjointed from the people it represents. Politicians are quick to digest polls when they concern who is ahead in an election, but quick to dismiss them when they reflect the people’s opinions.
Voters often cast their ballot for one candidate or another based on his or her stance on one issue, for example, abortion, gun control or taxes. Perhaps the most important issue of our generation will be to find a candidate who understands the damage the War on Drugs is doing to this country, its economy, and its citizens. Is Ron Paul the only man in Washington listening to the American people? Perhaps the time has come to ask first how your candidate stands on marijuana, and then take it from there. Less..
