How many kids have actually been harmed due to a registered sex offender living near by, or going to a park, school, day care, etc? How many?

Why don't you look at the facts instead of fear and lies to get yourself votes?

Many studies show that 95% or more of all sexual crimes are committed in the victims own home or friends homes, and by their More.. own family members or close friends.

Also, studies show that sex offenders are less likely than any other criminal, except murderers, to commit another sex related crime. Some show a 3.5%, 5.3% or less than 10% recidivism rates, while the media and politicians spew the lie about 85% or more recidivism rate, based on lies.

STOP THE BS, FEAR-MONGERING TO GET YOURSELVES VOTES.

Anyone can look around on the Internet, and see recidivism is low, and many studies which show high recidivism rates, take into account ANY CRIME or ANY TECHNICALITY, not the committal of another sex crime, which is how sex offender recidivism rates should be looked at in the first place, and those in the low range, do just that.

Every single year, politicians come out with priority sex offender issues, why? For votes! So they "look tough" on crime, all the while, doing nothing to prevent crime, nor helping rehabilitate offenders. It's wasting TONS of tax payer dollars for a "FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY!"

The only way to protect yourself and your kids, is do it yourself. Be aware of who you let into your life, family, etc.

A registry or any residency restriction will not prevent any crime, period. Even an idiot can see that.

These laws are placebos, and nothing more.

If someone is a true predator, a residency restriction could be 50 or 100 miles, and they'd still commit a crime, if they have it in mind to do so.

Hell, you are creating modern day leper colonies across the nation. There are many now in Florida, and Florida is going crazy to "fix" the problem, especially Ron Book (lobbyist, lawyer) and he is the one who lobbied for these very laws, but now that the heat is on, he is blaming everyone else for the problem, which he helped created.

I am not for sexual abuse, and anyone who commits such a crime, should be punished, plain and simple.

But making and passing ex post facto laws (retroactive), is strickly forbidden by the US and State constitutions, which is in simple language "NO EX POST FACTO LAW SHALL BE PASSED!"

It doesn't say, except against sex offenders, or if it's not deemed punishment, it says "SHALL NOT BE PASSED" period!

IF THE CONSTITUTION MEANS NOTHING, THEN WE ARE TRULY A FASCIST COUNTRY, AND N0BODY HAS ANY RIGHTS!!!
