Police are searching for six crooks who smashed the entrance of a west Miami-Dade store early Tuesday morning. Broken glass in mangled metal frames is all that's left of the Foot Locker store entrance after it was hit – literally – by a group of smash and grab thieves.

Using the rear of a car, burglars smashed their way into the store, located in a strip shopping plaza at SW 8th Street and 67th Avenue, around 6:30 a.m. After loading up what they could, they reportedly fled west on SW 8th Street.

Detectives were on scene Tuesday gathering evidence and studying surveillance video that they say captured the whole act. Witnesses say there was a security guard patrolling the area, but that he must have been out by the back of the strip mall when the thieves arrived.
