Authorities said one man is facing nearly a dozen charges after a high-speed chase in Westmoreland County on Thursday night. An alleged drunken driver nearly rammed about six cars during the chase, police said. Police said Michael Landis, 41, of Jeannette, crossed the centerline, missing an oncoming car by inches. Police said they tried pulling Landis over at the Sheetz along Route 30 in North Huntingdon after seeing him slumped over the wheel while he was pulling out of the parking lot, but he sped off. The chase went through Irwin and into Manor, where police set up spike strips. A few seconds later, three of the four tires on Landis' vehicle went flat with his rims scraping the ground, police said. Police said after about a mile, Landis ditched the car while it was still moving and took off running. Four officers used Taser guns on Landis and arrested him. Landis faces charges including driving under the influence, resisting arrest, attempting to elude police and reckless driving.
