RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) -- A Wake County sheriff's deputy found himself in a standoff with a huge swarm of bees Tuesday that covered his police cruiser.

Pictures from the scene showed the insects crawling all over the deputy's Dodge Charger.
It happened along U.S. Highway 64 at Exit 425 where a truck carrying bee hives apparently broke down.
A bee keeper from North Carolina State University was called in to use smoke to try and corral the insects and encourage them to return to their hive.
