Woman Attacked At Car Wash

Boardman, Ohio.

Township police are asking the public for help in identifying the man who robbed a 24-year-old Youngstown woman at knife-point.

Police said the robbery occurred about 10 p.m. June 17 at the What-A-Wash, 5300 South Ave. The woman told police she had just left work at a Boardman restaurant when she stopped to wash her car.

She was approached by a man who came from another carport who asked if she had change. She directed him to a change machine, and he walked away.

Police said the man returned and approached her with a knife, demanding money. The woman said she had none, and the man pressed the knife blade against her stomach, reports say.

The woman screamed, pushed the man away — causing the knife to scratch her slightly — and ran to South Avenue, police said.

Another vehicle pulled into the car wash and the woman yelled a warning about the man before getting into her vehicle and fleeing southbound on South Avenue, according to reports.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 50s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 150-165 pounds with short hair. He was wearing black shirt, pants , baseball cap and sunglasses. The suspect’s car was a navy blue, two-door, possibly a Ford Escort, with rust on it and a headlight out on the driver’s side.

Anyone with information is asked to call Boardman police 330-726-4144.
