The Florida Department of State’s Division of Elections is investigating a number of fraudulent letters sent to voters in the state questioning their citizenship and voter eligibility, in a possible attempt to keep them home on Election Day
.
“The Florida Department of State unequivocally opposes all attempts at voter fraud or intimidation and will pursue every avenue to ensure free, fair and open elections for all eligible voters,” Florida
Secretary of State Ken Detzner said in a statement. “Voter fraud and intimidation can deny voters their voice in government and will not be tolerated.”

The statement alerted the public of the fraudulent letters, which claim to be from Florida election officials and imply that the recipient might be ineligible to vote.

How is verifying someone is eligible to vote or has not already voted in this election, intimidating?
This accusation that began with Democratic politicians but is now used by both sides and echoed by the media that we should not verify who someone is before voting is ridiculous.
We need ID to drive, buy age restricted items, collect social security and we should need it to pick our political representation.

How do they know who is a Republican voter?

@Setanta the point of the ID is to make sure the person voting is actually a citizen who has the right to vote.
Unfortunately, over the past four years this Obama administration has filled our towns and cities with refugees, legal and illegal immigrants. None of which have the right to vote.
That is the purpose of requiring an ID to vote.
Make sense now?

I get the ID part, I thought it was a secret ballot though. How do they know who you vote for? Obviously the question is moot if you're a party activist, have posters in your window etc they can tell,

@Setanta It's all about demographics. With a minimal amount of information, you could make a correct guess about 80% of the time.

Yes, scary. As a matter of fact, it's big business here in the U.S.... demographics, that it. They know WAY too much about all of us.

Voter fraud on the part of the voter is a complete non-issue. The Justice Department did a review and found only 1 in 15 million Americans commit voter fraud, that makes 10 cases in the country. The penalty for voter fraud is up to 500 dollars in fines and jailtime, and if you're an illegal immigrant you get deported. While the reward is only one extra vote. No one in their right mind is going to do it.
The real problem is voter ID laws which would effectively suppress 21 million votes or the 1 More..
