Mule Doe turns to Buck

While elk hunting this morning I was recording a doe approximately 600 yards away I zoom out to show the distance, when I zoom back in on the deer it has changed to a buck...see if you can see the switch!

  • Probably :21. I'd drop teh buck, suppose the doe is pregnant.
to all the bambi lovers, wild game is over-running large parts of the USA. the last grizzly was shot out of California in 1901, the wolves were mostly shot out not long after that.

So the predators are gone, but the prey species proliferate, including deer and wild pigs, which eat farmer's crops, because in most parts of America you cannot shoot a gun let alone shoot a game animal. (I live in orange county, CA. It's almost al More..

  • Was probably laying or grazing behind a bush, if you look carefully you can see the movement of what is probably another behind one of the bushes below the buck as the camera is still zooming in.

  • Big muley bucks are the ghosts of the high mountain desert. They will stare at you for an hour and the second you see them they usually vanish........

I had the privilege of seeing a big 5x5 yesterday in a different place. And I saw him before he saw me...lying under a tree approximately 300 yards away. Once he saw me though he just meandered a couple of steps and vanished. They are beautiful and smart animals, wish I hadn't forgotten the camera yesterday :)

I just got back from Nevada, we were hunting up north by wildhorse lake. It is a great year for horns and saw multiple 4x4s around 24-26 inch and ended up taking a 28" 5x5 and 28" 4x4. Sure wish we had more weather this year to get the monsters moving around, but unfortunatlly it was dry, dusty and windy alot of work and glassing........

      Great times.............

Ya...weather's been real mild..the elk are still way up and I didn't have the time to take the proper time off to get up to them...just weekend hunts within driving distance of the city :-S

Congrats on the deer..they're always more fun when you have to work hard for them anyway :D

  • This is in Idaho...I was actually completely surprised by the switch myself and couldn't figure it out until I got home and watched the video. At :21 - :22 if you look closely (full screen) you can see the buck come barreling out from behind a bush about 10 feet to the doe's right. At the same time I am zooming in the doe is stepping back in behind another clump of brush.
