The Yemeni army has a full load of militants after a battle in the south of the country with Ansar Al-Sharia. They were a previously unknown group, which took advantage of the security lapse during the Yemeni revolution to spread their violent ideology which includes occupation of residential civilian areas. They were rejected by the Yemeni people, the residents, and the pro-revolution army. The residents and army fought together to drive out the extremists.

This is in stark contrast to Syria, where the 'Free Syrian Army' has amalgamated with several Al-Qaeda cells and is as far as possible from fighting against them. Among the prominent terror cells in Syria are Kataeb Ahrar Al-Sham, Suqur Al-Shams, Al-Faruq, and Jabhat Al-Nusra. They plant IEDs, conduct suicide missions, drive out residents, conduct assassinations and executions, the ideologies and missions which were rejected by the Yemen revolution. The 'Free Syrian Army' has made a serious error of judgment and is much hated by the residents of the towns they have overrun.
