  • Lets see, the government pays for social security, medicare, and prescription drugs. If you die they take about half for the death tax plus all payments to you cease. You really want those same people in charge of your healthcare??

      Looking at the government web sites, you do not pay an estate tax (your death tax) unless you have over a million dollars.

      Social Security goes to your spouse “A widow or widower, at full retirement age or older, generally receives 100 percent of the worker’s basic benefit amount“

    • @lostlad - Oh, I see. Only for the evil millionaires. Go tell it to the the farmers and ranchers who's multigenerational family businesses must be sold to cover the tax burden, never mind that the business only generates a middle class income for those that have worked hard all their life to keep the tradition alive. Those farms are much better off in the hands of corporate interests, right? It's not just farms, most small family businesses are the same way.

    • @lostlad depends..My mother became a widow 17 years ago however she doesn't get survivors benefits because my father never lived long enough to collect. He did work long enough, and made enough to get it. ):

    • @Eluf-ant farmers are generally very wealthy people whos kids generally go to college for Ag. Since farming families generally have many kids, they usually pick the brightest and most educated one to take over. It just really depends on the size of the farm.

    • @absu69 - My point being that a million in assets for a farm does not make you rich. Some pieces of equipment cost upwards of a quarter mill.
