This is all it takes to get beaten up, arrested, thrown in prison, and then the aftermath is no family, no home ownership, no job, and a ruined life.

It has gotten this ridiculous in the US. We live in a police state, and the courts are a rubber stamp on abuse. Lawyers are legislators, so they legislate for each other, not the people. If 3 out of 4 marriages end in divorce, why should you lose everything and face arrests and prison, just for being processed? The John Zito incident has nothing to do with a divorce case, just police arrogance and the lack of quality control. Civilian Oversight of police is needed more than ever, especially in the state of Connecticut where police misconduct and brutality are an art form.
