This disturbing film records the successful experiments in the resuscitation of life to dead animals (dogs), as conducted by Dr. S.S. Bryukhonenko at the Institute of Experimental Physiology and Therapy, Voronezh, U.S.S.R. Director: D.I. Yashin. Camera: E.V. Kashina. Narrator: Professor Walter B. Cannon. Introduced by Professor J.B.S. Haldane.
Controversial - at the time, a Soviet Film Agency film by the Soviets into 'The Experiments In The Revival Of Organisms'.
Most people are of the opinion that some of this was faked - for very good reasons - not least the fact Stalin told them to lie, or else. It was 1940 and as someone pointed out people were technically niave at the time. There are very eminent people who say otherwise - the debate has raged on for decades - it still does apparently, even on the web today.
Undoubtedly, large areas of this work was being carried out in nearly every university laboratory worldwide - especially within the USSR where they also had access to living prisoners in the Gulags ..... they were well advanced in this type of work .. Aparantly, the doctor who was the lead clinician in this type of medical research was called Dr Bryukhonenko, again, apparently, a big cheese in this line of work .. dunno what PETA would make of him.
