London, Nov. 26 (ANI): President Barack Obama's administration has planned to keep around 10,000 US troops in Afghanistan after formal combat operations in that country end in 2014.
Citing unnamed senior US officials, the Wall Street Journal said the plan is in line with recommendations given by commander of US and international forces in Afghanistan General John Allen, who has proposed a force between 6,000 and 15,000 US troops.
According to telegraph.com.au, the planned force will conduct training and counterterrorism operations after the NATO mission in Afghanistan formally ends in 2014.
About 67,000 US troops are currently deployed in Afghanistan alongside 37,000 coalition troops and 337,000 local soldiers and police that make up the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), the report said.
The United States and Afghanistan launched crucial talks on November 15 on the status of US forces remaining in Afghanistan after the NATO withdrawal of combat troops in 2014, it added.
The US has stressed that it is not seeking permanent bases in Afghanistan.
According to the report, Afghan President Hamid Karzai is said to be willing to accept US troop presence after 2014, as long as his key demands are met. (ANI)

It will be like on Iraq with the USA soldiers protected inside bases to reduce the casualties and giving the dirt job to the ANA soldiers and to the thousands of mercenarys from the old Black Water.
These mercenarys will die and the casualties list will never show their existance. The USA will lost a lot of money paying these criminals.
All this to garantee that the Taliban will not take the power so fast, but this is innevitable

Hundreds of thousands of ANA will not hand over power so easily to a couple thousand fighters. There was an attack by the Taliban a year or so ago on Kabul, it wasn't a massive siege or anything, but the ANA wiped them out without any US ground support.

I think they need nuclear weapons if they ever want to win against the ANA alone. Its called rationality. Theyre outnumbered, outgunned, and out resourced.
And the US has already promised financial stability to the Afghan military. They will have the money the need, even if it is short.

Funny how the US always loves giving away money to their pals (like Israel, Karzai etc.),yet they have to borrow trillions each year just to survive, how long do you think America can keep going like that?

How long can you keep going on about something you know nothing about? I believe that's the better question.
We have enough money in Fort Knox to pay our entire national debt. So why do we buy on credit and end up in debt when we have the money anyways? Because its the smart and safe way to do it.

First you need to install 200 percent control over the production of poppy (from the government and the military's international kontengenta), and then withdraw. Should be shown as 2-3 years have 200 percent control. Afghanistan is a very complex country and her attitude should be, respectively, the first in the history of the military will succeed in Afghanistan, wakes up if the control is set to full.

Same thing was said about Iraq, although since the Taliban won't be destroyed in 2014, it's possible we may require an air base to support Afghanistan.
