"A search for a woman wanted for aggravated assault turned into a high-speed chase that ended Wednesday with a stolen pickup crashing into a police car.
The Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force called for backup from Houston police about 11 a.m. after they spotted Kimberly King, 35, riding in a stolen pickup along Texas 288, authorities said.
The driver of the truck, identified as Oscar Melvin Brook, 35, led HPD officers in a winding chase for several minutes through the neighborhoods in the Third Ward.
At times, Brown was driving on the wrong side of the road during the pursuit. HPD officials said he sideswiped at least one patrol car then crashed head-on into another.
Brown jumped out of the driver's seat along the 2200 block of Sawyer and fled on foot. He was quickly captured by pursuing HPD officers, including a police canine team, officials said.
King remained in the truck after the final crash but initially gave officers a false name, authorities said.
She is in custody on the outstanding aggravated assault charges.
Charges are still pending against Brown for aggravated assault on a police officer and car theft, authorities said."
