Fire 3rd Floor West St. Moncton

Moncton Fire Department were on scene of a fire on West Street this afternoon just after 2 P.M. Heavy smoke was coming out of a 3rd floor apartment. Firefighters broke the window in the front of the house and were spraying water inside the wall. While other Firefighters were in the apartment next door doing a search to make sure everyone was out of the building. Fire was knocked down quickly and a fan was set up to ventilate the apartment. A fire investigator was called to the scene along with Red Cross. People that lived there were worried about there cats and around 3:15 P.M. Firefighters found 3 cats inside one of the apartments that were fine but there was still one missing. West Street was completely blocked off at South and at Burlington. At 3:41 P.M. the other cat was found safe also! Pouring down rain and the people are sitting outside still waiting for Red Cross to arrive at 4 P.M.
