Oh wait. What? You just saw your propeller fall off? And now you’re looking for a safe place to land in the middle of no where?
Gizmodo reports this is just what pilots of a Cessna 172B in Mexico had to do when the propeller of the plane dropped off (see video below):
Before the first cut the plane is good, with the propeller still on. The next one, it’s off, but the engine is still running to keep power in the plane. Then you can hear pilot — steel nerves, not a single sign of nervousness — and co-pilot discussing where to land, looking for a place — “there are some trees” the pilot comments calmly at one point — until they spot the road in which he finally performs a perfect emergency landing

You beat me to it...yes they do.
Did anyone else notice the pilot propping open the door and unlatching the window lock just before landing? Those steps are part of small plane emergency landing procedures to help guard against becoming trapped inside a burning or crumpled plane.

Good safety procedure. I wonder also if it creates drag and slows the planes decent?

@gonehuntin Door/window opening will create negligible drag at those speeds.
Extra drag would be a bad thing because it will increase the rate of descent and adversely affect the glide ratio. This will limit your options for landing areas.

Actually, it's a Cessna 172S, much newer than a C172B. It's in use by a flight school in Guadalajara. The emergency landing was in Aguascalientes.

Good nerves and talent on the part of the pilot
You wont see many videos where the pilot panics and loses his shit.
It happens, but when it does everybody dies and the camera isn't recovered,.
