Afghanistan's child coal miners -- عمال المناجم أفغانستان طفل
Part of channel(s): Afghanistan (current event)

In unlicensed coal mines in Afghanistan's remote Bamiyan province, children
as young as 10 are working with no safety protection. Fledgling Afghan
filmmaker Fardeen Barkazai risked a trip through Taliban territory to
tell their story.

  • Child labor.
    No EPA.
    No OSHA.
    No unions.

Sounds like a conservative/republican wet dream.

    • @AfghanFighter Not all of the West is like that. These are the type of people that are not educated much, and do not educate themselves with world news and how the world operates as 1.

Forgive their ignorance, just hope you dont think all the West is like that. There is lots of racism on this site, not just for islamic people but any other race besides their own skin! Its pathetic, we all know

  • They enslave their children, suppress their women, attack their government and schools, hate the West . . . why are we sacrificing young American, Canadian and NATO soldiers to help these cavemen?

When our troops leave, Afghanistan will return to this way of life because - they can.

  • licensed bye whom? and if it was licensed do you really think it would be any different

    • @Brockk

I think they said 'licensed to the Chinese' and I know that Chinese Mines don't employ children for sure.
Besides, the Afghan law (if there is such a thing) prohibits child labor, the Chinese would stick to the law.

    • @God_Himself You never heard of kids working in chinese factories? You truly lead a sheltered life. It may be illegal, but if they look the other way in china, what makes you think they'll behave any better in afghanistan?

    • @plokiju

I live in Shanghai and I visit factories as part of my business life.
I've never seen such a thing and being in the import/export trade we have other independent QSs who never announce their arrival once we've put the orders through.
So please don't talk to me about sheltered life when you keep getting all your info from the box in your lounge.

One last thing. Some Chinese businesses might try to get away with Child labor but when the government makes overseas investments, they stic More..

  • The world has more slaves today than it did thousands of years ago (fact).
This kid is the future of Afghanistan and all he wants is an education.
The 18 year old who made the film is a real hero imo. The only way to improve the lives of these kids is to expose these practices to the world...
I hope something come out of this...

    • @God_Himself The way to improve their lives is to give them other ways to earn a living. This is atrocious , but starving the whole family is worse. The Chinese companies that go in to mine , where is the money going ? In the pockets of the same individuals exploiting these kids...there's the problem.

  • Another sad story of Hazara boy. He is poor economically, yet he is so rich in thining and eager to go to school and learn. He is as young as 10 years, yet so hardworking to support his family. He is Hazara! The industrious and peace-loving people of Central Afghanistan.

These children are Hazaras. You can't find a single terrorist among these 7 million people and they are a true friend of the West and Western values. Wonder why there has not been a single bullet fired since 2001 in Central More..

  • Please, the Chinese would continue to employ these kids, probably even cut their salaries.
