High speed train from Guangzhou to Shenzhen in 30 minutes

It takes 2 hours to drive thru highway to get there and the regular train needs an hour. Heard of the high speed train was open, I decided to give it a try today. It ran at 300 km per hour and took only half an hour to get there. Quite and smooth. The ticket is 5 yuan less than regular train. I checked all things around me with an engineer's eye and found out all were made in China.

  • I love high speed rail, especially in Asia.

Coming from Australia, with a rail system that is worse / more primitive than India's, it is satisfying to travel with such efficiency.

    • @Autonomous

When traveling distance is less than 1,500 km high speed train needs less time and the ticket is less expensive than plane, too.

    • @gizmo8 In an old Jay Leno monologue he quoted the Amtrak slogan of the day, "Ride Amtrak. See what you've been missing.". Leno said, "Yeah, being in a train wreck." They were having a lot of them back then.

    • @Autonomous Dude, it's not more primitive than India -- you don't have people riding on the roof and hanging from the sides.

Sydney's rail is more modern than most of the US.

  • Yea they only got the technology from JAPAN! LOL!

Everyone knows the chinese cant invent shit, they can only make crude copies of what greater, more intellecutal and innovative nations have already done.

    LOL!

    Made in china? HAhahahah!!

    Good luck with that!

    • @VikingRapeSquad Yep, they actually sought help from numerous countries because their own "domestically produced high speed trains were insufficiently reliable for commercial operation."

I believe they also used G&E technology for their super computer, and claimed it as their own; what a farce.

    • @VikingRapeSquad

Only the first original slower trains were built with foreign help, the latest CRH trains are now 100% fully designed and build in China.

  • Less than $0.80 US. I know it's communism and all but it's impressive. Hope the driver is watching where he's going. :-)

  • its all fun and games till the train goes off the rails and kills everyone on board, luckily the Chinese govt will try to deny this like the one last year
