Is that for real?? Americans only get two weeks unpaid vacation?
Strewth! Australians get 4 weeks paid, often with leave-loading (you get paid more than normal) plus all public holidays are paid.
Plus we have free Hospital care and a quite small limit on total drug costs per family each year - even though all prescriptions are $35 or less and when you reach the limit $5 each.

If you start a new job on the lower end of things you work 1 year before you get any vacation and with many jobs its only one week and you don't get two weeks until the four or five year mark. Not to mention insurance doesn't kick in until the one year mark as well.

2 weeks if you have a career based job (Engineer, Nurse, Finance Administrator etc.). Try asking for 2 weeks as a construction laborer, McDonald's cashier, janitor etc. you'd be threatened with losing your job to an illegal and you will.
