caspernews — January 22, 2007 — Cajon Pass, California June 2002: San Bernardino firefighters scramble to keep a wildfire from jumping a highway. When they get to the top of the hill they find not only are they way too late, but now they must retreat. NOW. This is the closest call we have been on. 2 firefighters were injured.
Temperatures can be be as high as 1600 Degrees F as they roll over, incinerating everything in their path.

A big thanks to those in this video, and elsewhere. Took me a lot of nerve just to take the basic course and I don't think I'd ever try the whole deal. And not that this doesn't look hellish, but you should see some of the video people took after Mount St. Helens blew.

I remember this fire... area is only 10 miles from my house, and the wind blows from the 15 following Hwy 138 west. So we get a tad worried when we see tons of smoke from that area!
