Last week, the White House announced it would postpone a meeting scheduled for Wednesday June 17th with legislators to discuss plans to pass comprehensive immigration reform this year. During the Presidential Campaign, President Obama promised to work on immigration reform this year and we expect him to honor his promise.
The President cannot do this alone and needs to be able to count on the support of CAUSA and our allies in order to pressure Congress and send the message that we need to have immigration reform now.
Even though the meeting with Members of Congress to discuss immigration reform has been delayed, we expect the President to make it very clear that he will exert his leadership to get immigration reform moving in Congress as soon as possible.
Thats why we need to raise our voices and ask leaders in Washington to Act now.
Please join us by calling the White House directly by dialing 1-866-961-2143 (1-866-967-6018 espanol) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST and ask the President to show leadership and get the process started for moving immigration reform this year.
We need your help to make sure that the White House and Congress follow through on their commitment.
