The things are a fucking eyesore if out in the open. Plus, if not maintained, they quickly become a cesspool for mosquito harvesting...
Some people may not even take them down over the winter, leaving them to get brittle and nasty.
Plus, the fucking kids screaming 10 hours a day gets on one's nerves.
Slashing isn't cool, though.*
