  • and the reason we don't have new rail systems in the US is....
fatcats lining their pockets with federal funds
    the auto industry
    the OIL industry
    the airlines
    the highway administration...
and the current train transit systems who keep asking for, and receiving, funding to improve- but never really seem do so. hmmmm....

    • @geoleojoh the reason is because the USA has outsourced manufacturing of cars, electronics, appliances, cotton, honey, clothing, technical support, engineering, toothpaste, dog food, dry wall, lumber, green energy, and countless other industries to China.
Those lost jobs = lost income taxes, taxes that pay for nice things like mass transit

    • @cougar58 not just China...but the USA is outsourcing increasing automotive industry jobs to Canada...and Canada just this month surpassed the average income per person over the USA - note that Canadians have national health care.

      in 1 or 2 years

In china they always build first the means for transportation and after the housing for people

    • @H3dgehog
what you say is partly true, not exactly, the speed of city expanding is faster than population growth. this station is one of the stations in Suzhou compared with only one small station in whole city before.
and by the way, people are not always gathering together in the public spots except special occasions, such as holiday, festive, or travel, shopping centers.

  • china transportation system would put the US to shame...china has the "greenest rail system in the world"..of course their traffic on the streets are bad but the rail system is considered number one by the UN for using the newest clean technology, they are number one using thermal energy and number one for solar panels...and they still need the world oil....the airports are fricking amazing also...
