I know it's a YouTube upload... It's my first video. The evolution of my Kyosho Mini Inferno. Still working on her. I'll upload actual motion footage later.

Kyosho Mini Inferno HALF8 1/16 Scale

Here's the Mini Inferno I've been
working on since late January. Originally, I sent these pictures to a
buddy before converting them to video- that's why some of the
description lists image (IMG_) numbers. They're the most recent hop-ups.
I have never seen alloy-brushed green parts. Then again, I haven't been
in the hobby for 15+ years.

Aside from the aluminum, I got some
new rally tires but my dog chewed into one pretty good so I repaired
the and mounted them to some cheap rims. I'll get a new set of rallies
and some aluminum rims later on down the line. Yesterday I re-wrapped
all four shocks and they have no run time yet. Next, I'll working on
reinforcing the front end, starting with the caster hubs. But first, I'm
going to buy an eighth scale desert truck for bashing because this Mini
Inferno is too expensive to bash now hahahaa!

IMG_0643 gives you an under-the-hood shot of what I use to run the buggy
34 & 39 are of the new aluminum-carbon fiber spoiler
35-37 are the front and rear AngelEye LED lights, with daytime/nighttime settings
41 is another view under the hood when race-ready
44 is the 3-channel receiver, ch1 steering, ch2 ESC, ch3 lights
45
is the upper plate with a bit of velco to secure the ESC in place.
Additionally, you can see the slight variation in green aluminum
between the rear shock tower and the upper plate. All green aluminum
parts match except the rear shock towers...
46 same section with the
batteries removed, looking from the driver's side is the lower
plate as well as the blue aluminum, sealed ball differential
48 is the central diff, diff box, and brushless motor and under the velcro is a servo-saver on the servo horn
49 are the rear lower arms and hub

Aside
from the aluminum, I got some new rally tires but my dog chewed into
one pretty good so I repaired the and mounted them to some cheap rims.
I'll get a new set of rallies and some aluminum rims later on down the
line.

Thanks for watching, Faulkers!

  • Sweet mate, always good to have a money pit to distract from the mundanity of life.

I'm consistently impressed by the technology in RC vehicles, not to mention how fast it moves on.

  • I'm not really into RC cars, I prefer RC warbirds... to each his own.

BUT... I am very thankful for the RC car enthousiasts, without whom my local hobby shop would probably go out of business!

RC car geeks (electric and gas) throw literally TONS of money into keeping their cars running and tricked out. Constantly buying all kinds of crazy parts and shit, which cost their weight in gold.

So.... we need these dudes to keep the shop open so that I can purchase an occasional propellor or some oth More..

Likewise; my model shop would probably not stock the aircraft I like to build & fly if it was not for the 'other' sides of our hobby.

    • @Zipperneck1321:
Ah, cool. So then you know just how much we dump into our kits. On this one, I've already dropped $400+ into it and still have about another $150-200 left of more aluminum I want to install. GPM has had the pleasure of taking most of my money because ALL of the LHS's are stocked to the gills in Traxxas-- ONLY Traxxas, which really stinks when I need a quick fix up because of the waiting time for it to ship.

So true. If your LHS didn't sell rc cars and trucks, I bet it wouldn't be around for long. So from the dark [ahem] other side, you're welcome! lol

I know, I know... and I thank you for your patronage to LHs as when I go in, it's for piddly stuff. They'd close if they had to rely soley on aircraft guys.

  • Good clean build there. Would be good to see & hear it running?

You not built a rolling road test bed to 'tune' it up with?

    • @2cr51:
Thanks. I don't have any action footage yet, I need to hit the skate park up one morning before all the kids take it over.

I saw your rolling road, too. That thing is sweeeeet. But I don't need one because my buggy is actually electric. The head and muffler tip are mock-ups. The pipe is just for looks but the head actually sinks heat from the ESC.

  • That's a lot of detail work. Nice. I think the air scoops would have to a bit bigger (wider) to work properly though.

    • @kajidono:
Thanks. I actually thought bout that, too, but I didn't have matching lexan pieces for two of them. I did, however, drill the hole under the scoops again, making them larger to allow better airflow.
