    • @Campy-Five
For being a Brit I'm surprised you didn't say Hawker Siddley GR3 Harrier, instead referred to the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B copy!

  • This machine is very expensive at 125m a copy, but it does add an amazing capibility to the LHA, LHD fleet. It in effect adds 10 more aircraft carriers to the fleet! They'll have to redesignate assault ships. Maybe call them LCV's?

  • they are so expensive .. well another reason...is when we were building a mock-up so they could raise it out of a roof and shoot radar at it to check the cross section..i would be laying up carbon fiber and i swear 20-30 ppl would stand there and watch me LOL and tell me how to do it..so i would make them leave by going ..hey can you help me LOL.
Also we took a 55 gallon barrel full of cement with a special fitting and set it on its nose with a crane just to see how far it deflected. just doing More..

  • Where's the foul weather testing? Pitching ship, strong wind.

Can they do a vertical landing with full weapons load?

P.S. The Russian aircraft e.g. MiG 29 and Su-27 are very sexy. This one isn't. Even the Harrier is sexier.

    • @DEADBEEF
Do you know of any VTOL capable of landing in extreme foul weather?

No fighter aircraft has a full weapons load 'bringback', not even CATOBAR aircraft! Even land based fighters dont have full bringback! Thats why a typical AG mission load is usually less than half of the maximum load.

True the MiG29 and Su27 are sexy, for 80s technology! Trying to compare the Harrier to the f-35 is just laughable! The '35 is low-observable, outperformes the Harrier by any and all metrics! It is cap More..

    • @Noalias They are pieces of shit.
seriously, I'd rather Canada be protected by Cessnas and Canadian Geese. These F-35s are going to be widow makers.
