Bill Maher has a solution: "The only way to pull the debate back from the far right is for liberals to elect their own slate of 60 unstable, loony tune, mad-as-a-hatter, crazy motherfuckers."

Of course! Democrats need their own Tea Party movement; that way the crazies on both sides can have their fight and, perhaps reasonable, educated people can once again have a rational conversation in Washington, away from the Hitler-mustache signs and misspelled t-shirts.

To that end, Maher's "Donner Party" sounds like a step in the right direction.
