Oldenburg – We see the fearless face of gas station attendant Robert B. (20). He beat up an
armed robber with his baseball bat, until the robber started whining.

The masked suspect (32) sneaked to the Westfalen-gas station at 3:55 in Nardoster street.
Gas station attendant Robert B. was preparing buns for sale. “I thought he was
muffled up like that, because it was so cold”. But suddenly the guy pulled out
a knife and said “Give me the money”.

Robert asked “What?”. The suspect tried to hit him with his knife, but missed him. The robber
shouted “Don’t you understand me? Give me the money!”.

Robert took his bread knife and defended himself. He closed the doors via remote control
and pressed the alarm button. Robert than took a baseball bat out of a side
room: “I knew, that a baseball bat was standing there”.

The suspect tried to hit Robert again, but brave Robert hits him back.

When the suspect wanted to start another attack he got another hit against the head.
Robert: “In this moment I didn’t thought about anything, I just functioned”.

The bleeding robber dropped down his knive, hugged Robert and whimpered: “Please
let me go. I have wife and kids”.

The mean knive-ganster just became a picture of misery! The gas station attendant
consoled him and gave him a paper towel for his cut.

But: “Later the police told me that he was lying. He wanted to spend the money for drugs”,
Robert reports.

The robber will go to jail for at least 5 years. And Robert already worked at the gas
station yesterday. His boss Heiko Lammers: “I’m proud of him, but the safety of
my employees is more important to me than the money”.
