from an original BBC TV programme about the social living conditions for the city's residents up until the slum clearances of the early 1960's which did much to decimate the communities that had been brought up in the areas concerned. At the time there was this ever urgent push from above downwards to demolish the old and build anew - if only it had been that easy..
