(FEBRUARY 26, 2011)-SACRAMENTO,CA- California Highway Patrol officers and Caltrans crews responded to a seven car accident Saturday night and ended up having to corral over 100 goats.

The goats had broken through the fence of a nearby ranch. A dozen of the goats were injured and forty were killed.

The C.H.P. euthanized the injured goats.

One passenger suffered a minor injury.

Authorities are deciding if charges will be filed against the owner of the ranch.

The northbound lanes on Interstate 5 near Twin Cities were closed for more than an hour. The road was reopened at 9 p.m.
