The New York Post today is running an article detailing the Obama campaign's acceptance of foreign donations.
A British citizen living outside London was able to make two donations of $5 to the Obama campaign, despite listing his British street address, his state as Arkansas, and a zip code in New York. The Obama campaign did not make any effort to verify his credit card by asking for the three-digit CVV code, nor did it make any effort to verify the donor's nationality.
Similar attempts to donate to the Romney campaign were rejected. The Romney campaign's website requires CVV codes, and it rejects any donations whose zip codes do not match the zip code associated with the card.
The Obama campaign has raised tens of millions of dollars from donations lacking zip codes or with incomplete zip codes. Obama has relied heavily on donations in amounts under $50, for which the campaign is not required to track names. For donations under $200, the campaign is not required to disclose donor identities on FEC filing reports.
As long as a person used separate credit cards, one person could conceivably make unlimited donations of less than $50 each without the Obama campaign ever flagging that this money was coming from the same source or reporting it to the FEC.
Townhall.com reported on this problem with the Obama campaign's fundraising earlier in October. A Florida-based watchdog group, the Government Accountability Institute, released a report earlier this month describing the major loopholes in campaign finance laws that the Obama campaign may be exploiting.
With the New York Post's revelation, it is now confirmed that the Obama campaign is in violation of campaign finance laws and that the Obama team is doing nothing to weed out foreign online donations in small amounts. The campaign even seems to be encouraging such donations by sending follow-up e-mails to the British citizen, asking him to donate up to just less than the $200 limit, at which point the donor would have to be revealed publicly.

Sigh, I am not surprised. We need to take all the fucking money out. Each candidate gets $10 Million, and that's it. No more PAC's, SuperPAC's, UltraSuperDuperIxbyalidociousPACs!
And POTUS, I do NOT care WHO or WHICH PARTY, should NOT be allowed to use Air Force One for campaigning. PERIOD.

@BunkerGearGal Unfortunately that's they way the president has to travel, but I agree with what you said about everything else. This way there is no financial influence from the outside, and you should have to use your own money.

POTUS can use a bus, train or chartered plane for Campaigning, AF1 for everything else. Just my opinion. You still get a thumb's up though because your point is valid, I just disagree with it.

Cap the funds allowed to be spent and do not allow any contributions except from the little box on our tax forms. We do not need outside interference from Corporations or lobby interests in our Presidential elections or any election for that matter. The Supreme Court had no business usurping the voting process by allowing superpacs.

@Anonyville
The problem here is not super-PACs. The problem is that the Obama campaign is accepting money from overseas, from foreign nationals, which is against the law. Millions of dollars may be flowing into the Obama campaign from China, Russia, Europe, and elsewhere, and the Obama campaign is gladly accepting this money, while doing absolutely nothing to prevent it.
The Supreme Court has not usurped any voting process. The Court's Citizens United decision merely opened one more way fo More..

@buzzardist What do you think International Corporations are? They are supporting with foreign interests in mind. Absolutely, no difference between a foreign national supporting a United States President and an international Corporation doing the exact same thing. Both are supporting with foreign money and interest. No matter how you slice this shyte pie Super-Pacs are wrong and Citizens United corrupted our voting system.

@Anonyville
Corporations cannot donate to political campaigns under Citizens United, but they could under this loophole that Obama is exploiting. Under Citizens United, corporations can run ads if they wish or donate to organizations that run ads. However, when they do so, under the Citizens United ruling, their donations have to be reported.
The money Obama is getting from overseas? Completely untracked and unreported, and it's going directly to the Obama campaign.
The fact is that we sa More..

@buzzardist The difference is I don't PRETEND either are legal or Constitutional. Just because some Organization like Citizens United usurped the Constitution of the United States making themselves into traitors does not mean they were lawful in doing so. I don't care what the bought off Supreme Court of the two party system says. You can pretend they are different all you wish but they are the EXACT same thing as a foreign national buying off our political system. International Corporations are More..

The top corporate donor was Marketing Solution Publications, a Florida-based business run by financier William Edwards, with $4 million in contributions. Of the more than $3 million given by AT&T half came from direct contributions. The American Petroleum Institute, the top lobby shop for the oil and gas industry, gave more than $2 million. @Anonyville
Here's the problem with your numbers. Any of that money that went to the Romney campaign was not donated by corporations. It was donated by employees at those corporations. Take that same list of corporations, and their employees are donating millions to Obama, too. When a corporation employs tens of thousands of American citizens, it's very likely that some of them donate money. Many top executives even donate to both parties to gain access no matter who wins. You can't stop More..

You do realize that most of Romney's money is from overseas right? US Chamber of Commerce funds are all foreign aid and all of which go to Romney Super PACs. If you have an issue with it than you are against the right wing extremist supreme court.

Read the article. The Romney campaign requires CVV codes and rejects donations from foreigners. It's only the Obama campaign accepting them and failing to check nationality.

Wow. $5. Shocking.
MItt Romney's Damon Corp stole $40 million from Medicare. On a tip from the Bush White House, he sold the company the very same day that the federal investigation started. He personally pocketed $11 million in the sale!
