February 14, 2012, New Delhi, India: Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) has recently appointed Hemant Batra as party’s new General Secretary with immediate effect. The decision has been taken by party President Kuldeep Bishnoi, Member of Parliament in consultation with other senior leaders of the party. In his new role Mr. Batra would be assisting party’s President Kuldeep Bishnoi and would look after party's central and national affairs and also the policy matters.
Renowned International Corporate, Business & Strategist Commercial Lawyer by profession and founder of Kaden Boriss, Hemant Batra is the Chairperson of the Organizing Council of International Infrastructure & Construction Law Arbitration Moot (IICLAM) and Secretary General of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation in Law (SAARC LAW). He is also Project Consultant to United Nations Development Programme and a member of the advisory board of
US-based Organisation for International Cooperation. He has been associated with the various international bodies of the UN like UNDP, UNAIDS, UN-ESCAP and IDLO.
Speaking on the occasion, Kuldeep Bishnoi, M.P. and President, Haryana Janhit Congress said, “I am happy that my good friend Hemant Batra will be assisting me and the Party at this important juncture when we are getting ready to take-up the reign in Haryana for janhit (benefit of people); it has become a substance of common knowledge that HJC is a party which is ready to sacrifice anything for people struggle, a party which does not hesitate to take any step for their benefit, a party which is a common platform of struggle where every section of the society is a partner. I have always advocated the idea of professionals joining the politics and bringing in their expertise for a larger cause. Haryana is my birth state and through HJC I will get an opportunity to serve the people of Haryana.”
About the party president and leader Kuldeep Bishnoi, Batra said, “earlier he was my brother/friend and now he has become my leader as well; Kuldeep is a young, dynamic and honest leader who is deeply committed to the cause of the state of Haryana and its people. I like him for his simplicity, humility and determination. He is a true ‘karmayogi’ and a passionate visionary. The victory in Hissar Lok Sabha by poll has established him as the tallest and most
acceptable leader in the state. He is definitely the most credible contender for the Chief Minister’s position in the next elections. I would like to assist him in achieving party’s objectives and in that process would do my best to benefit the society.”
Apart from being a lawyer, Hemant is also a socio-political activist and is fond of writing and speaking on current topics of general importance be it on legal,economic or social or political subjects. Hemant was born in the city of Hissar in Haryana and had most of his education in Chandigarh; though, he shifted to Delhi in 1990 but he continued his association with Haryana on the social front.
