Diane Sawyer Stunned as Gas Price Jumps 10 Cents During Live ABC Report

WOW!! Nice try to spin this on the oil company's, Diane! I remember you blaming Bush for high gas prices in 07 & 08. So why is this not your God, Lord Obama's fault???

A stunned Diane Sawyer couldn’t believe her eyes on Wednesday as gas prices jumped 10 cents at a California gas station as an ABC journalist was giving a report on rising gas prices.

The field reporter, Ceclia Vega, started her segment by standing in front of a flashing gas sign that ready $4.99. But by the end of the video segment, the sign behind Vega read $5.09.

“It went up 10 cents?” Sawyer exclaimed.

“10 cents during that two minutes while we were on the air,” Vega responded.

By the way, it’s interesting to note that the ABC video report made sure to point out that most of the money paid at the pump gas goes to oil companies, but was noticeably silent about the Obama administration policies and positions that have contributed to rising prices (i.e. blocking the keystone pipeline and rising inflation).

The Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan tackled that concept in an column on Friday. While she acknowledged that a president can’t be held directly responsible for rising oil prices, Obama can’t be absolved completely.

“Oil is traded in dollars, and its price therefore rises when the value of the dollar falls, all else being equal,” she explains. “The Federal Reserve throughout Mr. Obama’s term has pursued the easiest monetary policy in modern times, expressly to revive the housing market. It has done so with the private support and urging of the White House and through Mr. Obama‘s appointees who are now a majority on the Fed’s Board of Governors.”

Oil prices rose to a fresh nine-month high above $108 a barrel Friday in Asia.

Benchmark crude for April delivery was up 59 cents to $108.42 per barrel late afternoon Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose $1.55 to settle at $107.83 in New York on Thursday.

Brent crude was up 55 cents at $124.17 per barrel in London.

  • Diane Sawyer, one of a herd of stupid Leftist teleprompter readers, is stunned after gas rockets up without Bush being president. Nobody to blame, Diane? Well, Obama is on record saying he wants gas as high as possible, so everyone will be forced to drive those stupid electric cars that blow up and burn down your garage. Yes, Diane, you cow... blame Barry for the money rushing out of your wallet.

What you've just posted is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having read it. I award you no LiveLeak points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

  • Don't know what Bush could have done about gas prices but I do know that Obama refusing to grant a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline is directly responsible for the rising prices today.

    • @culliganator You're wrong. The Keystone pipeline that the Republicans are demanding to be built to relieve our fuel problems will do no such thing. The pipeline will transport Canadian oil to a terminal in Texas and then to a refinery that is half-owned by Saudi Aramco. The refined fuel will then be exported to the highest bidder.

If you want to know why gasoline is so expensive when the demand in the US is down, look to the marketing policies of the oil companies and the speculators on Wall S More..

    • @culliganator I read about the Bush oil solution, at the end of that day it would add up to less than 2% of the total oil needed. The reality is the USA is consuming more and more oil but at the same time countries like China have also been consuming more. Add these factors together and you have a global oil shortage especially considering there has been no major new sources for oil in the last 10 years. The solution is simple, use less oil by enforcing stricter fuel consumption rules on new car More..

Don't you think that if we were taking steps to increase the production of oil and gas = that the future price of same would be affected?

If we had actually done the drill here, drill now in 2008 - that production would be coming online now...

If we were building more refinery capacity (none approved by the EPA in 30 years) - the price of gas would come down.

      Supply / Demand.

Both of these steps would have an effect on the global market and speculation of futures.

    • @culliganator Massachusetts congressman Ed Markey attached a amendment to the keystone bill stating that if the pipeline was built, fifty percent of the oil would have to be sold here. The API blew a fit and is lobbying HARD against this. If the oil was going to be sold here, why would they care?

  • Three things:

    1) Speculators - to run up their profits at your expense because investors can't win anywhere else

    2) Inflation - Odumba's Fed has been printing money out the ass, therefore reducing the dollar's buying power. Oil is a world commodity. With such effect of QE1, 2, 3, it costs more dollars for that same barrel

    3) Terror - A terrorist farts, it costs you 25 cents. Iran rattles the sabre, it costs more.

  • Its also part of another government shell game and Obama admin is a master at it. Iran fear mongering and sanctions on oil, deals with the Saudis cutting production or selling more to China, massive financial oil speculations lately AND the Chevy volt stimulation bill pho-jobs-tax back plan. Then in 6 months the administration will release oil reserves onto the market, the Saudis will increase production and sell more to the US and Gas prices will go way down. In the meantime that will tout th More..

  • wait until the Obama administration proposes the change to litres from gallons.
Then watch out. Liberals can hide their rate increases in the small size of a litre of gas. A ten cent jump in a litre is a 50 eent jump at the pump. Most people don't realize what a litre is or how many of them are in a gallon, except good liberals.
