"Snail" A snail captured in Macro on an iPhone 4 Just a romp.

Caught this little dude with my iPhone 4. New Blue FX 'Bright Colors" looks added. Just a minute or so of a snail in Macro. Kind of cool when I sped the fps up to 5x so you can see how his whole body moves as he goes. Peace.

  • Interesting. He doesn't appear to care much for that surface.

I don't care much for iphone's but damn, they have nice cameras.

    • @MatthewRyan Hey Matt: yeah, hard to believe. And this is the iPhone 4: the 4S blows it away. Getting one this week. 2-1/2x the pixels. My wife has one and I've taken some footage with it. Its amazing. Peace bro.

    • @Gene Lythgow i wouild just get a android most powerful phones out there

    • @MatthewRyan the android has a great cam as well. I had one but I couldn't get used to it; not very user friendly. I'm a pc man, don't like mac computers much at all but the iPhone rocks. You should check out Vimeo sometime: they have iPhone and mobile phone channels where they post only movies made on them. Its so wild how far we've come. Peace.

    • @Gene Lythgow it's funny 'cause i was actually watching two snails crawl around earlier today when I was out havin' a smoke

    • @85cmorning LOL! You know its funny how many times we do stuff like that and just kind of 'forget' about it during our lifetimes. Its awesome to be able to plop our phone on the ground and tap a button to realize this little piece. Its really cool. Peace

    • @Gene Lythgow I like that type of shit. simply paying attention to things we see every day. I like your 5x7 idea, but I haven't had time to put one together yet

  • I was waiting for a big foot to come down and squish it!

    Nice quality....good editing too.
    Looked great!

  • Nice editing - cute film. And I think that a squish at the end would have been tacky.

  • The snail looks a tad bit dehydrated, poor thing could barely set foot on the unnatural cement!

    • @Zippity Oh so that's why it was arching its body so much, in order to minimize contact with the ground. True normally snails "walk" on grass or earth after a rainfall, then the entire sole is in contact.

    • @Zippity Yeah, he didn't seem too happy; he was really trying to find a way to get across the pavement. In the end, he made it into someone's yard.

  • Nice. They have their eyes at the tip of the long antennas I think. Their mouth is interesting too. Next assignment Gene: film one while it's having lunch. Also if you can get your hands on a live crab, the way they eat is interesting too.
Maybe I should get a cam myself after all instead of telling ppl what to do lol.

  • That is nuts that's it's made with the iPhone! But what is macro?

    Posted May-3-2012 By

    • @Bthor420 Macro just means 'close-up'. I kept the phone about 6"-12" away from the little dude, grabbed as much detail as I could. I just did this on the fly...I was walking my son to his elementary school. And yeah, most better phones have really good cameras on them. Nokia has a great one, the Blackberry is decent but the iPhone is currently the most popular. In fact, photos from the iPhone are the most uploaded photos on Flicker. Who'd have thought. Apple was smart to capitali More..

Ya, I got an iPad 2 and my biggest complaint is the shitty camera. So I'm pretty excited to a new iPhone or the new iPad, those videos do literally look pro!! You hav def. swayed me to getting another apple product, simply on the bad ass camera (and apple has the most/best apps). What are some GOOD movie making apps?

    • @Bthor420 Sorry I haven't responded; have been on in quite a while. FiLiC Pro is probably the best app for film making on the iPhone. Magic Bullet Quick Looks is a must: but only use the FULL Resolution when you render it; the film looks are fantastic. I can inbox you a list. Just got the i5; it rips.
