FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- This morning, crews will try to move a small plane that crashed near the Sawgrass Expressway Thursday night.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Monty Knowles and a passenger, Christiane Gendre, were on final approach to Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport from Naussau, Bahamas when Knowles lost power to the engine on his Bonanza H35 around 8:00 Thursday night.
Instead of landing on the Sawgrass Expressway, Knowles chose to put the plane down on the levee west of the highway.
He landed safely but the plane rolled off the levee and into an embankment about 15 feet below.
Neither of the two people on board were injured.
This guy should be commended for landing the way he did!
